Platelet-rich plasma, also commonly known as PRP, is a treatment that utilizes injections containing concentrated platelets to the collagen growth process. Using your own body’s natural healing ability, you can augment aesthetic treatments and increase your ability to reduce signs of aging.
The PRP process begins with running several tubes of your own blood through a centrifuge, separating the platelets. Once separated, the platelets are injected back into your body in the affected areas, encouraging growth factors to enhance cosmetic procedures.
At Savvy Chic Medspa, we offer the latest regenerative medicine – PRP injections! When you inject your own blood, you stimulate and increase the production of cells that trigger collagen. PRP is also used for hair restoration and is the natural alterative to dermal fillers.
PRP, aka “Vampire Facial,” may sound like something right out of a Science Fiction movie, but our patients are discovering that it can.
PRP Results may vary per individual.
PRP with Microneedling
Among the benefits are:
Microneedling with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), or a Vampire Facial, involves preparing blood from the patient’s arm for microneedling. The plasma will then be separated from the red and white blood cells inside a centrifuge.
PRP Microneedling involves puncturing the skin with fine, sterile needles to create tiny piercings. Platelet-rich plasma is then injected into these piercings. In this process, collagen and elastin levels in the skin are increased, giving patients a smoother, fuller-looking face. PRP microneedling is also an excellent treatment to stimulate hair growth in men and women that are losing hair.
For at least one week before and on the day of microneedling, avoid aspirin, anti-inflammatory medications (e.g., Ibuprofen, Aleve), blood thinners, herbal supplements, vitamin E, and fish oil. You may resume these the day after your treatment.
Patients usually see visible improvements in their skin about 2 – 3 weeks after microneedling.
The results from a PRP Microneedling treatment may last up to 12 months. Since each person’s body composition is different, results may vary.
PRP Therapy is also referred to as a “Vampire Facial” because it uses the patient’s own blood, not because it turns a person pale and sparkly. The healing process is aided by injecting plasma, found in plasma, into areas of the face to augment the healing process.
Treatment with this method is completely safe. Other types of facial treatments that produce similar results will not carry the same risks. There’s no need to worry about your safety during or after this treatment.
